NATURE-BASED WELL-BEING EXPERIENCE

Sometimes all we need is the right environment, the right company and someone to walk alongside us.

Welcome to Golden Connections

Golden Connections brings together the restorative power of nature, meaningful conversation and the gentle companionship of our Golden Retrievers. Whether you're navigating a difficult time or simply looking to reconnect with yourself, every experience is built on kindness, patience and genuine connection.

What might a Golden Connections experience look like?

A dirt path in a forest during autumn, surrounded by trees with colorful fall foliage, with yellow, orange, and green leaves.
Two golden retriever dogs lying on the floor with one resting its head on the other's back, accompanied by text that says, "Carried. We're not meant to carry everything alone."

It doesn’t have to be a long walk — but it can be.

A Golden Connections experience is about spending meaningful time together, and that can look different for everyone. Your hour with us might mean a good countryside walk, or a gentler stroll followed by a coffee or a stop at a dog-friendly café or pub.

Sometimes we all need a little connection

You may be coming through a difficult period in your life, feeling lonely or socially isolated, recovering after a time of crisis, dealing with a relationship breakdown or struggling with stress at work. Or perhaps life is simply feeling a little heavier than usual.

You don’t need to be going through a crisis to benefit from Golden Connections. You might simply want to get outdoors more, improve your physical wellbeing, rebuild your confidence, enjoy some company or have a reason to get out of the house.

Our affectionate Golden Retrievers are at the heart of the experience. For someone who is feeling lonely or disconnected, the simple companionship of a friendly dog can make getting outdoors feel a little easier. They bring warmth, affection and plenty of personality — and sometimes having a dog walking alongside you can make conversation feel more natural too.

There’s no expectation about what we talk about. You might want to share something you’re going through, have a deep and meaningful conversation, chat about everyday life, laugh at the dogs — or simply enjoy being outdoors without needing to talk at all.

Sometimes, silence is golden.

Beautiful places don’t have to be far away.

Close to Home

A peaceful scene of a pond with tall green reeds in the foreground, surrounded by lush trees under a bright blue sky with some clouds. Pink flowers are visible near the center, and a building is seen in the background.
A serene lake scene surrounded by green trees with some ducks swimming near the shore, partly shaded by leaves in the foreground.

Golden Connections experiences are based around Mildenhall, Barton Mills and the surrounding area, making the most of the beautiful places we have right on our doorstep. Our walks might take us alongside the River Lark, around West Stow, through local woodland or along one of the many peaceful routes in the area.

Most experiences will stay fairly close to home, although we may sometimes venture a little further afield to places such as Brandon Country Park or High Lodge.

Need a lift?

If transport is a barrier, we can collect you from home and return you afterwards if you live within approximately 8 miles of the Five Ways roundabout at Barton Mills.

That way, not having your own transport doesn’t have to stop you from enjoying a Golden Connections experience.

Your time, your way.

A Golden Connections experience doesn’t mean you have to spend the whole time walking. You might fancy a good countryside walk, or perhaps something gentler — a shorter stroll followed by a coffee or a drink at a dog-friendly café or pub.

Or we might bring a flask and a bite to eat, enjoy a short walk and then find a peaceful spot to sit, chat and spend some time with one of our Goldens.

The experience is usually around an hour, although we’re not going to be watching the clock if we naturally run a few minutes over.

A good walk

For days when you simply want to get outdoors, stretch your legs and enjoy the countryside with good company.

Time to talk

Sometimes getting outdoors makes it easier to talk. We can chat about what’s on your mind, something you’re going through, or simply put the world to rights as we walk.

A gentler walk

A shorter stroll with time to stop, take things in and enjoy the company — perhaps followed by a coffee or a drink at a dog-friendly café or pub.

Golden company

Sometimes it’s the dogs who make the moment. Each of our Golden Retrievers has their own personality, but they all share a love of attention and affection. There can be time for cuddles, play, fuss and simply enjoying their company — whether you feel like talking or not.

REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES FOR HAPPIER, MORE CONFIDENT DOGS

Adventures, not training.

Golden Adventures is about helping dogs become happier and more confident in the real world — through positive experiences, gentle socialisation and time spent alongside our Golden Retrievers.

Every dog is different. We start by listening to you, getting to know your dog and understanding what you would like them to gain from the experience. Together, we’ll agree some goals and plan adventures around them — always at a pace that suits your dog.

So, what may Golden Adventures look like?

Meeting other dogs
Relaxed, positive time alongside suitable dogs, helping your dog become more comfortable and confident in canine company.

Out and about
Experiencing everyday places together — perhaps a dog-friendly café or pub, meeting new people, or simply spending time somewhere unfamiliar.

Car confidence
Gentle, positive experiences for dogs who may feel unsure about travelling, building confidence at a pace that suits them.

Walking together
Woodland, countryside or local walks alongside our Goldens, exploring and enjoying the experience together.

Secure-field adventures
Time in a secure dog field where there’s space to explore, play and enjoy the company of other dogs in a safe environment.

New places & experiences
Gentle introductions to unfamiliar places, people, sights and sounds — always guided by your dog’s individual needs and the goals we’ve agreed together.

Your dog. Your goals. Their adventure.

We’ll start with a conversation about your dog — their personality, what they enjoy, what they find difficult and what you’d like them to gain from Golden Adventures.

From there, we’ll agree some goals and plan an initial three adventures around them. We can adapt things as we go, depending on how your dog responds. There’s no rigid programme and no expectation that every dog should achieve the same thing.

Ready for an adventure?

Not sure exactly what your dog needs? That’s absolutely fine. It starts with a conversation. Tell us a little about your dog, what you’d like to work towards and what you think they might enjoy, and we can take it from there.

PRACTICAL, COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR DOGS & PUPPIES

Golden Companions offers practical, compassionate care for dogs and puppies in their own home and local surroundings. Whether they need a walk, a drop-in visit or some company while you're out, we'll take the time to understand their usual routine, personality and the little things that help them feel happy and settled.

We'll fit around your dog rather than expecting your dog to fit around us.

Meet & Greet

Before we care for your dog, we’d like to get to know you both. Our complimentary Meet & Greet gives us a chance to meet your dog in their own surroundings, learn about their personality and usual routine, and talk through what you'd like from us.

We can discuss feeding, walks, medications, where everything is kept, any little quirks or preferences, and anything else that helps us care for your dog the way you would.

Most importantly, it gives you and your dog the chance to get to know us too and make sure everyone feels comfortable.

Dog Walking

Our dog walks are about giving your dog enjoyable time out of the house, with plenty of opportunity to sniff, explore and simply enjoy being a dog.

We'll usually walk locally from your home, getting to know the routes and places your dog enjoys. Walks are usually one-to-one, and where appropriate we can discuss whether your dog might enjoy the company of another suitable dog.

When we return, we'll make sure your dog is comfortable and settled, clean muddy paws where needed, refresh their water and put their usual walking equipment away.

And because we know you'll want to know what they've been up to, we'll send you a little update and some photos from their walk. Whether you choose the half hour option, or the hour option for your dog, they will get the same compassionate care we give our own.

Drop-In Visits

Sometimes your dog doesn't need a walk — they just need a little company and care while you're away.

We can visit your dog at home to let them into the garden, refresh their water, provide their usual food if needed, and spend some time giving them company, fuss and play.

For puppies, older dogs, or dogs who simply prefer being at home, a drop-in can also provide company and a break in their day.

Afterwards, we'll send you an update and a few photos so you know how they've been getting on.

Day & Evening Sitting

If you're going out for longer but would prefer your dog to stay in the comfort of their own home, we can spend time with them while you're away.

We'll follow their normal routine as closely as possible, including walks, meals, garden breaks, play, company and, of course, plenty of fuss and attention.

Sitting can be arranged during the day or into the evening, up until 10 pm, depending on what you and your plans and your dog’s usual routine.

Because we have dogs of our own waiting for us at home, we don't offer overnight stays. We also don't provide care for dogs in our own home.

The aim is simple — for you to enjoy your time away knowing your dog is comfortable, cared for and settled in familiar surroundings.

Our Service Area

Golden Companions is available within an 8-mile radius of IP28 6AE, helping us to provide reliable local care without unnecessary travel costs.

Your dog — and your home — in safe hands

We understand that trusting someone with your dog also means trusting them with access to your home.

We are DBS checked and take that responsibility seriously. From respecting your home and following your instructions to keeping you updated while you're away, we want you to feel comfortable and confident about the care your dog is receiving.

Could Golden Companions help?

Whether you need an occasional helping hand or regular support with your dog, we'd be happy to have a chat about what you need.
